Another Sunday, another Linklater film. This time Ghengis and I watched Before Sunrise. Despite the mushy subject matter, Ghengis gave this movie his seal of approval.

If you've forgetten this 1995 sleeper, here's the plot summary from IMDB:
Before Sunrise is a passionate and intelligent romance between a young American (Jesse) and a French student (Celine). A change encounter on the train in cites intrigue, and Jesse provocatively suggests that Celine postpones her return to France and embarks instead on a spontaneous expedition to Vienna. In the course of their 14-hour relationship, the two share in their love for the unrehearsed and their appreciation for the unexpected as they explore in a powerful meeting of hearts and minds...

spoiler alert

At the end of the movie, at the end of their 14 hours in Vienna, Jesse confesses that he doesn't want to commit to their earlier promise of keeping their relationship to just their one day in Vienna. Just as Celine's train is about to depart, the two pledge to meet again, in the exact spot in the train station in 6 months time. The final shots of the film are of the empty streets of Vienna, of Celine in her train heading to Paris, and of Jesse in his bus heading to the airport that will return him to Boston. Whether the two will make good on their promise to return to Vienna is not answered in this movie.

But it appears that the question is answered in Waking Life. Unless, of course, it was just a dream.
