Yes its hot outside. Last night I was listening to CBC Radio from Toronto until they launched into reading a two minute list of "things to do to keep you cool". The segment seemed so amateurish and so self-evident that it irked me enough that I turned off the radio stream from my kitchen computer. The "Mother Corp" indeed. Next time it was going to tell me to stop slouching.

Later on in the evening I was speaking with a friend who worked at a different CBC station but that didn't prevent me from launching my little whine above. She didn't disagree or agree with me but said only this: earlier in the day she had checked in with local hospitals to see if the population was faring badly in the heat. A representative told her that things weren't as bad as previous years and thanked her, the media, for getting the word out on how to cope in hot weather as the rep felt that it was the reason for the significant drop in the number of heat fatalities.

Why do people have to die in order to relieve my boredom?

As for advice on how to keep cool, I shall quote Rob: "Never underestimate the stupidity of the general public."
What I want to know is, why doesn't the media ever mention climate change? We just had our hottest night ever in TO. Climate change experts predict that the new heat waves will bring hotter nights...
