Ok - its pretty strange in itself that the national animal of Canada is a large rodent. But its even stranger that many citizens of this this same nation seems to believe that we know quite a bit about all things wilderness....

From Monday's Globe and Mail's Comment column:
"Like the beaver -- who shocks predators by biting off its own testicles when cornered -- Canadians may appear harmless, but we're surprisingly tough. And if you look closely, there is much in our educational culture that cultivates and values precisely this quality."

This can't possibly be true, but I'm going to have to post a formal debunking after I refer to Walker's Mammals of the World in the library... no way am I going to search the web with the words, beaver and testicles.
