April is the cruelest month. The days are warm with promise but the nights still have a chill. And there is always the threat of cold rain.

I'm still here.

All the things that I've recently read on the web that I feel need repeating have already been in laid bare by Harper's months ago: the strange Christian fundamentalism that controls Washington, the evils of the sugar industry, the devastion caused by the IMF in South America, the maddess of the invasion of Iraq...

What the world needs is more Harper's Magazine. And I'm glad to see that in October 2003, Canada will get its own version of Harper's. And it will be called Walrus.
