These days I'm reading more than I am writing.

Normally a devout reading of non-fiction, I'm actually reading a novel at present: The Gold Bug Variations. The reading is slow going cause the book is dense with matter. So dense at times, the book itself absorbs light from a room. But illumination can be found, if the reader is willing to refer to the companion to the book. What I'm really trying to say is that the effort is worth it.

The protagonist of the novel is a reference librarian who has a long-standing obsession with the calendar and who develops through the course of the book an obsession with genetics.

I am a reference librarian who, last year, took a course in genetics. I have recently been pondering the notion of the naming of the full moons.

The Gold Bug Variations speak to me.
